The Blackheather Society’s founder, Dr Ian Taylor, has spent the last few years looking into the causes of the condition that has become known as ‘blue eye’.
But as he and his team have been researching the condition, they’ve noticed that the same people with the condition are also people who have good eyesight, particularly in children.
Dr Taylor said the condition was a “common problem” among children with the disorder and that it was a serious concern for the society.
“I’ve spoken to parents who have had a baby with blue eyes,” Dr Taylor told the ABC.
“The parents were like, ‘well, we have a baby and he’s getting blue eyes’.”
And they’ve said it’s the result of a mutation in the gene that has caused the eyes to become blue.
“So the fact that there’s a mutation means that the eyes are going to be blue.”
Dr Taylor and his research team are now trying to determine the genetic basis of the blue eyes.
“We are doing genetic testing,” he said.
“And there are some people who might have it and some people with it.
And the most important thing is to understand the genetic underpinning.”
He said the first step was to understand what made the child’s eyes blue.
“If they have blue eyes, they are likely to have inherited a mutation,” Dr Tay said.
And then the next step was looking at what the mutation did to the child.
In this case, Dr Taylor and colleagues found that a gene called APOE-4 had mutated.
“This gene is very important for the eyes, for the development of the cornea, the lens, the pupil,” Dr Tey said.
Dr Taylor said that APOE4, which is found in the same gene that makes us blue, had mutated over the last century.
It means that children with blue-eyed children are more likely to be carriers.
That meant that there were more people with blue eye in the world than there were people who had blue eyes themselves.
Dr Tey and his colleagues said the mutation was one of the most common mutations seen in the children with ‘blue eyes’.
“We found that the mutation is prevalent in people with normal eye colouration, so it is probably the most prevalent mutation that people have, in the whole of the human population,” Dr James told the BBC.
“It’s very common, but it is very difficult to track down.”
In the case of blue-eared people, we see that the mutations are most prevalent in black children and that is probably because they are a minority group.
“Dr James said that if a child has a mutation that was not found in others, then the child might be more likely than the rest of the population to be carrying the mutation.
This would mean that more people would have blue-eye, and if the mutation wasn’t found in those with blue sight, the child would not have it.”
That would be a problem for the social support services, because if the child has blue eyes but they’re not carriers of the mutation, then they would have the extra benefit of social support,” Dr Martin said.
But Dr Taylor’s team has also found that children who have blue eye also have other problems such as vision impairment and learning disabilities.
The ABC’s Andrew Bolt visited a hospital in South Australia to interview the parents of a young child with blue pupils who had also had a mutation.
Dr James explained that some people have the blue-sightedness gene and that others don’t.
He said that the gene was found in a few different families and that some families may have more than one person with the mutation but that most people have at least one.
But Dr James said the most likely explanation for the blue eye was that the parents had a genetic mutation that caused it to happen.”
Dr Teys said that there was also a link between the mutation and the blue colour.””
You can’t put them all together and say it’s a common mutation.”

“Some people have a mutation and some don’t,” Dr Jones said.
“But it’s possible that the blue mutation that you have is caused by that mutation, and so we can look at that to see whether it’s affecting how your eyes work.”
Dr Johnson said it was unlikely that the Blue-Eyed child’s parents would be in the position to sue the Blackheaths.
“But you do want to get to the bottom of it,” Dr Smith said.
